What are the advantages of an oil press

News 6300

The screw oil press is a fully automatic hydraulic edible oil processing machine that uses a rotating screw shaft to continuously and efficiently extract oil from raw materials.

Its core advantages lie in its compact structure, user-friendly operation, and high oil yield. Widely adopted by individual entrepreneurs, small oil mills, and large-scale processing facilities, it supports the pressing of over 60 types of oilseeds, including peanuts, soybeans, and sunflowers.

1.The pressure of cone shaped cake pressing oil increases, and multi-stage pushing pressing is adopted with the addition of automatic temperature control function, greatly improving the oil yield.
2.Semi forced feeding system to improve yield and obtain national patent certification.
3.Newly upgraded gearbox to reduce energy consumption and save more electricity.
4.No.45 high-quality steel has undergone carburization heat treatment, resulting in a long service life of the machine.

What are the characteristics of an oil press

  • Thorough mechanical pressing: The screw press applies high pressure to oilseeds through a continuously rotating screw, deeply disrupting cell structures to fully release oils. This achieves a 10%-30% higher oil yield compared to traditional pressing methods.
  • Low Residual Oil Content: Advanced models (such as screw presses) can maintain residual oil content below 5%, minimizing raw material waste. This is particularly suitable for high-oil-content crops like peanuts and sesame seeds.
  • High Adaptability: By adjusting parameters like pressure and temperature, oil extraction efficiency can be optimized for different oilseeds. For instance, hot pressing enhances oil yield in nuts, while cold pressing preserves nutrients in seeds.
  • Reduced Intermediate Steps: Direct pressing eliminates solvent extraction or chemical refining, saving costs on solvent procurement, recovery, and wastewater treatment.
  • Energy Efficiency Optimization: Modern oil presses utilize energy-saving motors and intelligent temperature control systems, reducing energy consumption per unit by 20%-40% compared to traditional equipment, making them suitable for long-term, large-scale production.
  • Multi-stage pressing design: By adjusting screw spacing or increasing the number of pressing stages, it adapts to different oilseed characteristics (e.g., hard-shelled seeds require pre-crushing, while soft-fleshed fruits demand low-temperature slow pressing).
  • Mobile models: Compactly designed small oil presses can be flexibly deployed on farms, in cooperatives, or at home workshops to meet decentralized production needs.

What materials can the oil press extract

Oil press are suitable for purification treatment of lubricating oil, heavy diesel, edible rapeseed oil, tea oil, peanut oil, etc. in power plants, ships, and large mechanical equipment. When used for the treatment of turbine oil in power plants, the bypass is connected to the main oil tank of the steam turbine for random operation, which can timely filter out moisture and impurities in the oil, improve the quality of operating oil, slow down the aging rate of oil, and ensure the safe operation of the steam turbine, which will have a positive effect on the purity of edible oil.

What is the working principle of an oil press

Oil presses mechanically extract oils from seeds by applying pressure to disrupt the cellular structure of the seeds, causing the oil to transfer from the solid phase (seeds) to the liquid phase (oil) for collection.

  • Feeding and Pre-treatment:
  • Raw Material Preparation: Oilseeds (such as peanuts, rapeseed, soybeans) require pre-treatment including cleaning (removing impurities), crushing (reducing particle size), steaming and roasting (for hot pressing mode), or drying (for cold pressing mode).
  • Hot-Press Roasting: High temperatures (100-130°C) soften oilseed cells, denature proteins, reduce oil viscosity, and enhance oil yield.
  • Cold-Press Direct Feeding: Oilseeds bypass roasting and enter the press chamber directly to preserve nutrients.
  • Pressing Process:
  • Press Chamber Structure: Composed of a screw press (helical shaft) and a press cage (fixed sleeve), the gap between the screw press and press cage gradually narrows to create a high-pressure environment.
  • Compression and Friction:
  • The rotating screw press propels the oilseeds forward while the press cage restricts radial expansion, forcing oil to separate from the cells.
  • Under high pressure, the oilseeds undergo triple action—compression, shearing, and friction—causing cell walls to rupture and separating oil from solids (oil cake).
  • Pressure Gradient: Chamber pressure increases progressively from inlet to outlet (reaching tens of megapascals), ensuring complete oil extraction.
  • Oil Extraction and Residue Discharge
  • Oil Outlet: Oil flows out through fine holes or gaps in the press cage, collected via an oil channel into an oil drum.
  • Residue Outlet: Remaining cake (containing less than 5% residual oil) is discharged from the end of the press chamber and can be further processed into feed or fertilizer.

Through technological upgrades and process optimization, oil presses have become efficient, healthy, and eco-friendly solutions for the modern oil processing industry, particularly suited for businesses and individual users pursuing quality and sustainable development.
